Duluth, MN - Freddy Achecar (Georgetown) drove in a season-high five runs, but St. Cloud dropped the series finale to Duluth 8-7. The Rox finish the first half of the season with a 20-15 record.
St. Cloud jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. Achecar drilled a 3-run triple down the left field line and scored Gus Steiger (South Dakota State), Jordan Barth (Augustana) and Hance Smith (California-Berkeley).
The Rox extended their lead to 6-1 in the top of the second inning following three more runs. With the bases loaded, Barth was drilled by a pitch that brought home Zack Elliott (Minnesota). Landon Stephens (Miami-Ohio) later scored Brady Harlan (Oklahoma) on fielder's choice. Achecar walked in the third run of the inning.
Achecar was at it again in the top of the fourth inning, this time crushing a double down the right field line that scored Smith.
Trae Robertson (Missouri) started the game for St. Cloud and pitched four innings. Drew Garrett (Johnson County CC), Justin Wick (Creighton), Blake Stelzer (Concordia-St. Paul) and Smith all saw action out of the bullpen.
