Aces to Conduct Open Tryouts

The Alexandria Aces are holding an open tryout camp Saturday, April 26, at Bringhurst Field in Alexandria, La., for players interested in making the team's roster. Aces manager RC Lichtenstein and coach Robert Hewes will oversee the tryouts.

Registration starts at 8 a.m. and tryouts start promptly at 9 a.m. Players are asked to bring their own glove and equipment and come dressed for the workouts. No aluminum bats are allowed.

There is a $30 registration fee and participants will be given a camp shirt to keep. Pre-registration is encouraged. Contact the Aces office at (318) 473-2237 to sign up.

The Central Baseball League, preparing for its 10th season of independent baseball, will play a 96-game schedule between May and August 2003.

The 10-member league has teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Rio Grande Valley (Harlingen), San Angelo, Robstown and Ft. Worth, Texas; Alexandria and Shreveport, La.; Springfield/Ozark, Mo.; and Jackson, Miss.
