August 10, 2003 - Central Baseball League (Central League)
Alexandria Aces News Release

The Aces completed two more player deals prior to the Central League's trade deadline.

Late Thursday the Aces traded right-handed pitcher Steve Wilkerson to the Edinburg Roadrunners for a player to be named later and one of Edinburg's picks in the 2004 Central League tryout camp. Wilkerson was second on the Aces ball club in wins and innings pitched.

Alexandria also traded outfielder Derry Hammond to the Coastal Bend Aviators for future considerations. Hammond is the second player the Aces have traded to Coastal Bend this week, following outfielder Carlos Adolfo.

The Aces signed two players to help fill out the roster, infielder Ryan Dambach and pitcher Nate Fouts. Dambach briefly played for the St. George Pioneerzz of the Western League during the 2000 season. Fouts, a right-handed pitcher, played collegiate baseball at Texas Tech.

The Aces return home Monday, August 11, for a season-ending homestand. The Jackson Senators come in to start a three-game Business Partners Appreciation series.

The Central Baseball League plays a 96-game schedule between May and August 2003.

The 10-member league has teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Rio Grande Valley (Harlingen), San Angelo, Robstown and Ft. Worth, Texas; Alexandria and Shreveport, La.; Springfield/Ozark, Mo.; and Jackson, Miss.
