Aces Surge Past Coyotes

Edinburg, TX; June 20, 2007- The Edinburg Coyotes simply are not fond of mornings. The Edinburg Coyotes lost their second early morning game of the season as they dropped a 13-2 decision to the Alexandria Aces dropping them into third place in the United League Standings. The Coyote pitching staff has allowed 25 runs the past two games in their series against the Aces.

Edinburg starter Bric Steed lost for the first time this season. Steed, (5-1) was not sharp as he allowed 10 earned runs on eight Alexandria hits in just over 2.0 innings of work. All 13 runs scored against Edinburg were earned with one run charged to relievers Aaron Guerra, Andy Noonan, and Eddie Wilson.

Edinburg's only offense of the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning as catcher Luis Espinosa clubbed a two-out two-run homer over the left-center field wall, cutting the deficit to 11-2. The home-run was Espniosa's second homerun of the series and fourth homer of the season.

The two teams will face each other again tomorrow in the finale of a four game series at Edinburg Baseball Stadium with game time set for 7:05 PM

The Edinburg Coyotes are members of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas and Louisiana. The United League in its second season with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Laredo, Harlingen, and San Angelo, Texas; and Alexandria, Louisiana. The ULB will play a 100-game schedule between May and August 2007. The 2007 ULB All-Star Game is July 11th in Amarillo, TX.
