
Aces Crush Coyotes 13-2, Move Into First-Place Tie

Edinburg, TX Tuesday June 20, 2007- The Alexandria Aces crushed the Edinburg Coyotes by the score of 13-2 to take a game lead over the Coyotes in the United League. With the win the Aces are currently tied with Rio Grande for first, pending their game later tonight.
Luis Galarraga pitched an outstanding game going 7.0 innings, allowing teo runs on seven hits, while walking three and striking out four. Galaaraga (5-2) got his sinker and slider over consistently fo strikes, and got the Coyote hitters to swing at first and second pitches throughout the day. Josh Chitwood went the final 2.0 innings, allowing two hits and no runs to close out the game. With the win the Aces improved to 23-19.
Edinburg starter Bric Steed wished he hadn't got out of bed today for this early morning affair, going 2.0 innings, allowing 10 runs on eight hits, while walking five and striking out only one. Steed (5-1) came into today's game with a 3.40 ERA, and leaves with a 5.46 ERA. Four Edinburg relievers piched the final seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits. With the loss the Coyotes drop 22-20.
The Aces once again pouded out double digit hits with 13. Tyrone Pendergrass was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Richard Paz continued his hot hand at the plate with a 1-for-2 day with three runs batted in and two runs scored. Selwyn Langainge was 2-for-5 with fiur runs batted in. Jiosh Tranum inched closer to his 500th career hit with a 1-for-5 day. Tranum is only tree hits shy of that 500 mark. Palmer Karr hit his team leading 9th home run in the second inning, going 2-for-6 with two runs batted in and two runs scored. Bryan Sabatella and Wilson Burwell each added multiple hit affairs as well for the Aces with Burwell adding two runs batted in.
