Aces Sign 6-5 Veteran Free Agent Center Theresa Plaisance

Las Vegas, NV - Las Vegas Aces Head Coach Becky Hammon announced today that the team has signed 6-5 veteran free agent center Theresa Plaisance (tuh-REE-suh play-ZAWNCE).

"Theresa is a versatile post player who can extend a defense with her three-point shot creating potential match-up problems in the process," said Hammon. "She is also one of the better defensive rebounders in the league, which helps in closing out possessions and getting out in transition."

"Becky is a players' coach whose impact on both the NBA and WNBA has transcended gender roles and will inspire generations for years to come. I'm excited to sign with the Las Vegas Aces and bring depth and veteran leadership to an already strong core of talented women."

Plaisance was originally drafted by the Tulsa Shock in the third round (No. 27 overall) of the 2014 WNBA Draft. The eight-year WNBA veteran played five-plus seasons with the franchise, which relocated to Dallas and became the Wings prior to the 2016 campaign.

Dallas traded Plaisance to Connecticut on August 6, 2019, where she stayed until signing a free agent contract with the Washington Mystics in 2021

Plaisance brings career averages of 4.5 points and 3.0 rebounds to Las Vegas. Despite her height, the Louisiana native is comfortable on the perimeter, connecting on 35.0 percent of her three-pointers during her time with the Shock/Wings.

Her best statistical season came in 2017 when she averaged 7.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in 34 games for the Wings. She nearly matched those averages a year ago with the Mystics, averaging 6.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 31 regular season games.

Plaisance played collegiately at LSU, where she helped the Lady Tigers to three NCAA Tournament appearances, and two trips to the Sweet 16.

The Louisiana native is currently playing for Clarinos in the Spanish League where she is averaging 13. 5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
