Alexandria Aces News Release

ALEXANDRIA-- As they prepare for their 10th Anniversary season, the Alexandria Aces want to be heard. And now, they have a voice. The team named Baton Rouge native Damon Sunde as its director of Media Relations and Broadcasting, effective Feb. 27.

Sunde, 24, will handle all play-by-play duties on Aces radio broadcasts and will disperse team information to the media and public. He also will assist other team workers with community relations and sales duties.

"I'm thrilled to have Damon on board. I worked with him in Baton Rouge and know firsthand the knowledge he brings to the game," said Aces General Manager Lydia Bergeron.

Prior to joining the Aces, Sunde served as communications director for the Baton Rouge River Bats of the Southeastern League. He also was the radio play-by-play voice of the Baton Rouge Kingfish of the East Coast Hockey League during the 2001-02 hockey season and worked for Bergeron with the Baton Rouge Blue Marlins. Sunde also hosts a regular DJ shift on Baton Rouge's most popular country station, 101.5 WYNK.

A former LSU student, Sunde spent three years in the University's Student Media program both as a sports editor at The Reveille and sports broadcaster with 91.1 FM KLSU. During this time, Sunde covered all LSU sports, including the Tigers' 2000 trip to the College World Series, and won several awards for his sports writing.

Sunde looks forward to becoming part of the Aces staff and cannot wait for the 2003 season to begin.

"Alexandria has such a rich baseball history. I'm ecstatic to be involved with the Aces organization," Sunde said. "The Aces are the only team that participated in every single season of the old Evangeline League. I can't wait to meet all the fans and I hope to send some good news out over the air waves this summer."
