Alexandria, La. - August 14, 2008 - The Alexandria Aces committed four costly errors as they lost their final home game of the year Thursday as the Amarillo Dillas won 4-2 at Bringhurst Field. The Dillas scored three unearned runs in the top of the fourth inning. Gary Schneidmiller led off the inning with a four-pitch walk. A.J. Johnson then grounded to first and first baseman Jose Umbria tired to force out Schneidmiller at second base but he threw the ball into left field for an error. After Aces starter Alexis Sosa struck out two straight Dillas and a wild pitch moved runners to second and third, Josh Ashton delivered a two run single to put the Dillas ahead 2-1. Two batters later, Keith Brachold singled home Ashton for another Dillas run. In the ninth, Amarillo added another unearned run. Ashton led-off the inning by reaching on an error by Rafael Ozuna. Ashton then scored on a RBI single by Danny Bravo to give the Dillas a 4-2 lead. The Aces pitching was outstanding in the loss. Alexis Sosa struck out seven batters in 4.2 innings without giving up an earned run. Reliever Angel Guzman pitched 3.1 perfect innings, striking out two. Ronald Ramirez pitched the ninth and gave up an unearned run on one hit. The Aces scored first when Eddie Fitzpatrick singled and scored on a groundout by Luis Guance. Guance scored the only other Aces run in the sixth. After he singled and stole second, Guance scored when first baseman A.J. Johnson misplayed a groundball by Ozuna for an error. The Aces and Dillas will play a three-game series in Amarillo starting Friday. Game time is 7:05.
