Fox to Play All Nine Positions Tonight

August 14, 2008 - United League Baseball (ULB) News Release

Harlingen, TX - Harlingen WhiteWings slugger Ryan Fox will play all nine positions in tonight's game against the San Angelo Colts. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6:05. Admission is free for all.

Fox has played every position on the field in his career except for shortstop. He has also only played second base once.

The 27-year old has played both right field and third base regularly this season after playing both of those positions, in addition to first base, regularly for the WhiteWings last year.

Fox has played leftfield once this year and was in centerfield once last year.

The Rogers, Arkansas resident was a catcher in 2004 with Casper (Pioneer League, Class R) in the Colorado Rockies system.

Fox also has extensive experience as a pitcher. He pitched in the Rockies system in 2005 and 2006 before making three appearances from the mound this year. He has not allowed a base runner while striking out three in two and one-third innings.

Known primarily for his hitting, Fox set the single-season United League record with 23 home runs last year and had a stretch four home runs in the three games from August 6th-8th earlier this year to get him within one of the 40 home run club. Only two other United Leaguers have ever reached 40 home runs - Jason Crosland (44) and Palmer Karr Jr. (43). Neither is currently playing in the ULB.

Fox is currently hitting .248 with 15 home runs and 65 RBI.
