Reno Aces News Release

LAS VEGAS, Nev.- The Aces led 5-0 early and never looked back Saturday night, exploding for 16 hits in a 14-6 victory over the Las Vegas 51s at Cashman Field.

Reno put up a five-spot in the second inning and the lead was never seriously threatened. Holding a 5-3 lead through three innings, the Aces would go on to score nine times over the next five frames to roll the victory.

Six Aces collected at least two hits, while four players recorded a multi-RBI effort. Eric Byrnes led the way with three hits, four RBIs and two runs scored. Ed Rogers doubled twice and drove in three.

On the bump for Reno, Hector Ambriz (8-9) picked up the victory, scattering four runs on 12 hits over 5.1 innings of work. Travis Blackley, Doug Slaten and Jose Marte combined to hold the lead for Reno over the game's final 3.2 frames.

The loss fell to 51s starter T.J. Beam (7-4), who surrendered seven earned runs on 10 hits over five frames.

The victory guarantees Reno will finish its inaugural season with a winning record, and also ensures the Aces no worse than a split in the first edition of the Silver State Diamond Challenge.

The series comes to a close on Sunday night, with the Aces' final road game of the season. RHP Cesar Valdez (6-5, 4.60 ERA) gets the ball for Reno, while the 51s counter with LHP David Purcey (7-6, 4.82 ERA). First pitch from Cashman Field is set for 7:05 p.m. PT and the action can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM.

Reno returns home for its final homestand Monday, Aug. 31. For tickets, stop by the Aces Ballpark Box Office, call 334-7000 or visit RenoAces.com.
