Albuquerque, NM - Reno scored five runs between the second and fourth frames and held the Isotopes to just four hits en route to beating Albuquerque, 5-1, Wednesday night at Isotopes Park.
In the box, the Isotopes managed just one extra-base hit, a solo homer off the bat of Carlos Pérez. D.J. Peterson, Tim Lopes and Jonathan Morales each had one hit.
The Aces took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Dominic Canzone and RBI double by Corbin Carroll. Reno doubled its lead in the third behind a two-run single by Canzone, tallying his third RBI of the game. However, both runs were unearned.
The Aces scored in their third-straight frame when Jake Hager grounded into a double play with a runner on third base, taking a 5-0 lead.
Albuquerque's first hit of the game also plated its first run in the fourth frame, a solo shot by Pérez.
Ashton Goudeau was charged with his sixth loss of the year after tossing 4.0 innings and allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits and no walks with six strikeouts.
Topes Scope: - Shortstop Alan Trejo threw out Buddy Kennedy attempting to score from third on a groundball with the infield in. Kennedy became the third runner the Isotopes have thrown out attempting to score over the first two games of the series.
-Albuquerque's bullpen has allowed just four hits and one run over 8.0 innings of work over the first two games of the series
-The Isotopes were held to just one run for the seventh time this season- first since July 28 vs. Las Vegas-and third time at home.
-Albuquerque managed to put just two runners into scoring position on the night and had just two plate appearances with runners in scoring position.
-Pérez smacked his 24th homer of the year in the fourth frame, tied for second in the PCL for the most homers.
-Albuquerque allowed four steals for the second-straight contest, tied for the second-most relented this year. They have allowed the second-most steals in the PCL (110), four behind Round Rock.
-Goudeau fanned six over 4.0 innings, establishing a new season high.
-Riley Pint made his Triple-A debut and tossed a scoreless sixth after inducing a double play and strikeout. He allowed one hit and two walks.
-Joel Peguero made his Isotopes debut and hurled a scoreless seventh inning. He allowed one hit.
-Wynton Bernard has gone back-to-back games without a hit for the first time since June 23-24 vs. Las Vegas and just the fifth time this year.
On Deck: The Isotopes and Aces will play game three Thursday at 6:35 pm MT. Brandon Gold is set to start for Albuquerque while Reno is expected to start Drey Jameson.
