Alexandria Aces News Release

Alexandria, LA; May 31, 2006 - The Alexandria Aces evened their record at 7-7 Wednesday afternoon with an 8-2 win over the Laredo Broncos at Bringhurst Field. Lefthander Buddy Bengel (1-0) worked six innings and allowed just one run to earn the win.

Bengel scattered five hits over six innings despite throwing 30 pitches in the fifth inning. The Aces took an early lead in the second inning when Luis Guance led off with a double and scored on consecutive groundouts by Luis Espinosa and Erick Mejias.

Alexandria extended its lead with two runs in the fourth inning. After one-out singles from Cleatus Davidson and Keto Anderson, a walk to Richard Paz loaded the bases. Trey Beamon grounded to second, but Laredo's Charlie Eisenhower fumbled the ball making the pivot, and Davidson scored. A bases-loaded walk to Adam Bonner forced in another run to make it 3-0.

Davidson added to the lead in the fifth inning with a solo home run down the right-field line, his first as an Ace in only his second game. Alexandria broke the game open with four runs in the seventh inning against reliever Albert Laurel, keyed by an RBI double from Luis Espinosa and a two-run triple by Anderson. Davidson and Anderson both finished with two hits.

The series against the Broncos concludes tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. with Louisiana Lottery Shirt Off Our Back Night. The Aces will host the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. For more information, call 473-ACES or log on to www.myacesbaseball.com.
