Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
The Aberdeen IronBirds (18-14) set a team record on Tuesday night, just not in the fashion they had hoped. Aberdeen suffered a 12-0 defeat at the hands of the Williamsport Crosscutters (11-20), the worst shutout loss in franchise history.
Ryan Childs started the game for the IronBirds and got tagged for 6 runs (5 earned) on 9 hits in 3 innings of work. He falls to 1-1 on the year. Casey Cahill (2ip, 1er), Kyle Boehm (2ip, 2er), Sean Spencer (1ip, 0r) and Justin Azze (1ip, 0r) also pitched for Aberdeen. Spencer has joined the club on an injury rehab assignment from AA Bowie.
Blake Hanan and Rafael Diaz were a few bright spots for the IronBirds tonight, as they each collected 2 hits. CJ Smith added a single, with Brian Bock and Arturo Rivas tallying the other hits for Aberdeen.
Game 2 of the series will be Wednesday night at Ripken Stadium. Carlos Perez will look to break the team's 5 game losing streak, the longest of the season.
