ABA welcomes Jacksonville Jam

June 28, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Jacksonville Slam News Release

Jacksonville, FL. Sports and entertainment options for residents on the First Coast continue to grow as the Jacksonville Jam becomes the newest team in the American Basketball Association (ABA). The ABA is the largest professional basketball league with more than 50 teams across the country.

The Jacksonville Jam begins its inaugural season on November 10th at the University of North Florida Arena. All 18 home games will be played at the UNF Arena, with the majority of games being played on Friday nights. There are five games scheduled that will be played on Sunday afternoon during the season. The JAM chose UNF as its location because of the ideal arena size. The UNF Arena seating capacity is 5,800.

The Jacksonville Jam will compete in the southeast region against rival cities such as Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Orlando, Palm Beach and others.

"For our team to be successful, we must be able to compete in our region by winning games. We must also deliver a game day experience at every game that entertains our fans. Each game will be known as the Game Day Jam, bringing our fans in early and entertaining them before, during and after each game," said Felix Krupczynski, Co-owner and General Manager of the Jacksonville Jam.

Ticket prices start at just over $8 per game for season ticket holders and range up to $40 for courtside seating. Tickets will be sold online at www.jaxjam.com.

The Jacksonville Jam is also pleased to announce that it has chosen Steve Tucker as Director of Basketball Operations and Head Coach. Known as Coach T, Tucker draws upon over twenty-five years of coaching experience and is currently closing out his role for the Murfreesboro Musicians, a WBA team in Tennessee. Coach T has also held numerous coaching positions throughout the collegiate and professional ranks and is the only pro head coach to have ever coached in five professional basketball leagues.

Coach Tucker will conduct team tryouts on Saturday, July 8 at UNF Arena from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tucker and the Jacksonville Jam management believe that there is a tremendous amount of talent living in and around the First Coast area to field a competitive team.

According to Krupczynski, "The ABA states that every ABA game should be a fan-pleasing entertainment experience. We have developed fun ways to involve our fans and the entire community through unique promotions."
