Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact and Alco Prevention Canada, the international leader in breathalyzers, announced Thursday a unique partnership that will provide supporters at Stade Saputo a service to prevent drinking and driving on their way home. As a result, the Impact becomes the first professional Canadian club to offer this service to its supporters at matches.
Starting with this weekend's game on Saturday, August 22 against the Philadelphia Union, Stade Saputo will be equipped with seven alcohol level terminals, while single-use breathalyzers will be available in each of the suites.
In addition, a team of 10 people will be present to offer a driving service (two drivers) for those that exceed the legal alcohol limit. Supporters will be given a ride home while a second driver follows with their car. All those in attendance will have access to the service and only transport fees apply.
"The partnership with the Montreal Impact is a unique opportunity to help us spread the message that fans can have fun and return home in a responsible manner," said Stéphane Maurais, CEO of Alco Prevention Canada. "Supporters can enjoy the match, while monitoring their blood alcohol level with precision. We are pleased to work with the Impact, who becomes a trailblazer with this important initiative."
"We are proud of this new partnership that will provide supporters with an option for a safe return home. Our organization promotes ethical and responsible behaviour when it comes to alcohol consumption," said the Impact's director of partnerships Rino Folino. "This partnership fits in with our philosophy of educating youth, and we aim to find partners who will help work to improve the customer experience for the whole family at Stade Saputo."
For example, partnering with Saputo, the Nutrilait family corner has complemented family outings to the stadium by providing different activities and services for children. The partnership with Allerject educates people with food allergies, while the Cascades squad invites supporters to live Green by recycling.
