TORONTO - New Ownership. New stadium. And now new adidas uniforms for the Toronto Argonauts.
The Argos' new uniform was revealed today as part of a league-wide unveiling of its new collection as adidas becomes the CFL's official outfitter starting this season.
The unveiling of the new uniform gives fans a glimpse of what the players will be wearing when the 2016 CFL season kicks off at BMO Field on Thursday, June 23 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
"Seeing the new uniforms that our players will wear as we kick off our season at BMO Field is really exciting and a reminder that football is right around the corner," said Michael Copeland, President and CEO of the Toronto Argonauts. "The 2016 season is going to be a very special year for the Argos and our players, staff and fans couldn't be more excited."
The new jerseys feature more stylized classic stripes on the shoulders and a powder blue trim on the numbers. Above the newly stylized numbers, the adidas uniforms will feature modernized wordmarks on both the home and away jerseys - 'Argonauts' in white script on the home jersey and 'Toronto' in navy on the away jerseys. The jerseys also feature the adidas logo and new CFL logo.
The team's pants have also undergone similar changes as the traditional Double Blue piping along the pants side-seam is now thinner and shorter. A new feature to the Argonauts game pants is the climacool mesh zones at the knee which help keep players cool when the game day tempo heats up.
The Argonauts also launched today ArgosShop.ca, a new online shop where fans can purchase the latest merchandise, including the new adidas jerseys and the exclusive Argos Collection. The mobile friendly online shop was developed and is managed by Mustang Products, the Official E-Commerce Partner of the Toronto Argonauts.
