A Pair of Bombs Enough to Beat Hillsboro

The Emeralds' bats drove in nine runs in game one to take a 1-0 lead in the series against the Hillsboro Hops 9-1.

In the second, SS Jimmy Glowenke gave the Emeralds a 3-0 lead on a three-run home run with C Pat Bailey and DH Andy Thomas on base.

Another inning later, Ems' LF Jairo Pomares came up with an RBI single to drive in CF Luis Matos to increase their lead 4-0.

The lone run for the Hops was driven in on a solo home run by 3B Deyvison De Los Santos in the fourth inning to cut their lead to 4-1.

Additional runs would be driven in by C Pat Bailey on a two-run home run to jump to a 6-1 lead.

Three more runs were driven in by 2B Simon Whiteman on a three-RBI triple to drive in Thomas, Glowenke and 1B Robert Emery 9-1.

The Emeralds will look to continue their offensive dominance as they will have RHP Jake Wong on on the mound tomorrow. First pitch is at 7:05 PM, 6:50 pregame show on 95.3 The Score.
