FEATURE: A look at the Best Quakes Halloween Costumes Oct 27th 2016, 23:16
Halloween is the one time every year that people can dress as they wish and let their creativity emerge in the form of a costume. The Earthquakes players have taken advantage of this day for many years. Ahead of this weekend's festivities, here is a look back at some of the past costumes sported by Quakes players.
Bringing back the 1920s
Defender Jordan Stewart loves golfing and certainly dresses the part when he visits the course. Last year, Stewart channeled the spirit of Bobby Jones, considered as the golf's greatest practitioner who celebrated some of his most successful years between 1923 and 1930, and dressed as a 1920s golfer. As one instagrammer pointed out, the outfit is similar to the ones Stewart sports everyday he golfs, although this one has a notably darker color scheme.
Where's Tommy?
Where's Waldo books have fascinated readers since their first publication in 1987. Although starting as a book created by English illustrator Martin Handford, Where's Waldo has since inspired a television show, a comic strip, video games and, a couple of years ago, forward Tommy Thompson's Halloween costume.
Let the journey begin
Inspired by the 2015 animated film Minions, Fatai Alashe dressed as one of the little yellow creatures last year for Halloween. While each Halloween is an adventure of its own, it probably didn't take Alashe on a quest to steal the Imperial State Crown from Queen Elizabeth II like his character did in the film.
Luchador Clarence Goodson
For Halloween 2015, Earthquakes defender and former U.S. Men's National Team member Clarence Goodson went as a WWE wrestler and his daughter as a luchadora, a professional wrester in Mexico. These two made-up perhaps the most intimidating pair spotted trick or treating in 2015.
You can cross now
Intercepting crosses for the Quakes and protecting the goal is Andrew Tarbell's business, and for Halloween last year, a simple but unique costume took it to a new level. Dressed up as a crossing guard, Tarbell completed the last-minute costume with a homemade stop sign.
The Man Your Man Could Smell Like
On a horse and holding the body wash that promised to make tickets to your favorite thing turn into diamonds, Marvell Wynne dressed like the 'man your man could smell like' a couple of Halloweens ago.
More costumes are certainly expected this weekend and we look forward to seeing them.
