Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN-Fans may have noticed a few of the RiverKings hockey players looking a little shabbier than usual. That's because defenseman Paul D'Agostino managed to persuade his teammates, forward Kevin Fukala, Assistant Captain Kyle Lundale, and goalie Scott Darling to grow their hair out in efforts to promote women's cancer awareness.

On Tuesday, March 6, four lucky fans will win the opportunity to shave the players' heads through a donation drawing, the funds of which will be donated to Pink Heals Mid-South, a firefighters' organization. "Locks of Love" hair cuts will be provided pre-game through 7:15 p.m. on the concourse courtesy of Sport Clips, who will also assist with the shaving of the players' heads. The first intermission will feature fire vs. police departments in a "Guns "˜N Hoses" competition, with EMHC ambulance paramedics serving as judges.

Pink Heals is best known for its nationally touring pink fire trucks and squad cars that feature firefighters dressed in pink turnout gear and law enforcement officers dressed in pink T-shirts.

Through Pink Heals, the firefighters and law enforcement officers rally together to raise funds and awareness about women's cancer issues throughout the nation. All funds raised in each city stay in that city. In the Memphis metro area, three organizations are the recipients of the funds: Wings Cancer Foundation and Memphis Hope Lodge (a program of American Cancer Society).

"My mom had a scare last year with breast cancer, and that's no scare that any family should have to go through," D'Agostino said.

Lundale and Darling have personal reasons to join the cause. Darling's mother is currently undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, and a close family friend of Lundale's passed away from the disease.

"My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in September of last year," Darling said. "She had the disease seven years ago, so this is the second time we're going through this as a family. It's hard to be away from her, but I'm shaving my head to show her how much I love her and care about her and I'm thinking about her."

Fans can enter the donation drawing any time during this weekend's games (Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3). The drawing for the first person and player will be on Monday night, March 5 at the RiverKings Coach's Show, which is broadcast live on Sports 56 AM radio from O'Charley's restaurant in Southaven from 7-8 p.m. The drawing for the second person and player will be on Tuesday afternoon at the RiverKings Pre-Game Warm-Up at the Fillin Station Grille at 5:45 p.m. (the event runs from 4:30-6 p.m.). The drawings for the third and fourth persons and players will occur during the game on March. 6. Fans must be present to win.

Every Friday game night is "Teen Night" at the RiverKings, with a special deal just for teens: a red level ticket, soda and popcorn for just $10. Plus, fans can nominate their favorite civic-minded teen to win the RiverKings "Teen Star" Award, which will be presented to the top three candidates on Mar. 16.

In addition to the Pre-Game Warm-Up events at Fillin Station Grille before every game, fans can wrap up their evenings by joining the entire team at the T.G.I. Friday's Post-Game Party. Also, fans who like the team's Official Facebook Page will receive $3 off a ticket to Saturday's game, Mar. 3.
