The Canadian Football League announced today that Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive back Emanuel Davis has been named the Shaw CFL Top Performer for Week 7.

In Hamilton's 38-8 victory against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday, Davis registered four tackles, two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns and a pass knockdown. His contributions helped lift the Tiger-Cats to their third consecutive win and improve to 9-0 all-time at Tim Hortons Field (including playoffs).

Davis opened the game's scoring in the first quarter after intercepting a Drew Willy tipped pass that was intended for Clarence Denmark and returning it 65 yards for a touchdown. The Manteo, North Carolina native notched his second interception of the game late in the fourth quarter. This time, he picked off Robert Marve and ran 53 yards for his second major of the game. Davis became the first-ever Tiger-Cats player to return two interceptions for touchdowns in the same game and first player in the CFL since Byron Parker in September 2004.

A product of East Carolina University, Davis is tied for second in the CFL with three interceptions this season. He has returned all three of his interceptions for touchdowns.

B.C.'s Andrew Harris and Ottawa's Keith Shologan, second and third in voting, respectively, join Davis as this week's Shaw CFL Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
