Yakima Valley Pippins News Release

YAKIMA, Wash. - Another Pippin from the 2014 season is coming back to Yakima next summer, as the team announced the return of infielder Mitch Skaggs for the 2015 season.

"As happy as I was to invite Mitch back this summer, I think the organization, the community, and Mitch himself were even happier," said Pippins' Manager Marcus McKimmy. "Our host family coordinator already has him a place to stay, the front office was pleasantly surprised at the early spring news, and for Mitch, being a Pippin in 2014 was something, I believe, he was eager to relive again."

Skaggs, who plays at the College of Idaho, had a productive year in a Pippins uniform last summer. He hit .241 with 2 home runs, 11 doubles and 22 RBI, spending most of the summer at third base. McKimmy expects him to contribute in a similar fashion over the summer.

"Mitch will again play third base for us with the versatility to play some first base as well to try and give his legs some rest coming off of injury," said McKimmy. "The intangibles he brings to our roster have immeasurable value. He's a redshirt-senior who provides experience to our clubhouse, extreme work-ethic, excellent defensive ability, and has been a winner at every level he's been at. I am one of many in the Yakima Valley pleased to welcome him back."
