Prior to playing collegiately, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound goaltender played four seasons of junior hockey splitting time in the WHL and AJHL. He won 24 games in the 2003-04 season with Calgary and Spokane, and won 22 games in 2004-05 with Red Deer.
Foreman, 23 (1/6/87), is in his second season as a pro after playing for the Alaska Aces (ECHL) last season. The Cambridge, Ontario native had 14 points (9-5=14) in 40 games including 105 penalty minutes in his rookie year. Prior to turning pro, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward played four full years in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Foreman played his final season in Niagara where he placed third on the club with 62 points (38-34=62). He scored 29 goals and had 26 assists with 215 penalty minutes for the London Knights in 2005-06. The year prior, he scored 11 goals in the regular season and three more in the playoffs during the Knights' run to the 2005 Memorial Cup, which included a finals victory over Sidney Crosby and Rimouski (QMJHL). Foreman helped London win its first ever Memorial Cup and began its regular season with 31 consecutive wins, a CHL (OHL, WHL and QMJHL combined) record. He finished his OHL career with 76 goals, 81 assists and 594 penalty minutes in 240 games played.
"Foreman and Festa represent the direction we are taking this team," said Mavericks' Head Coach Scott Hillman. "Each of them is willing to fight for everything they get and they are very hard working individuals. We have the best fans in the CHL and that is what they deserve. Some of our changes as of late have been made to increase the intensity and work ethic of our team."
"Foreman is a player similar to Karl Sellan and will help replace some of his energy while Karl is on the injured reserve," added Hillman. "He had great numbers in major junior hockey and will hopefully add more scoring punch. Festa had a very solid major junior career and then great numbers in Canadian University hockey. He will work to push Alexandre Vincent for minutes in the net."
Festa will wear sweater #34 and Foreman will wear #10.
The Mavericks will host the Mississippi RiverKings this Friday, January 15 and Saturday, January 16 at Independence Events Center. For tickets call (866) 443-8849 or visit www.MissouriMavericks.com for more information.
