Jam holds off Reno 102-96

(Bakersfield, Calif., March 10, 2009) - Trey Johnson led Bakersfield with 22 points en route to a 102-96 victory over the Reno Bighorns.

Bakersfield entered halftime with a three point lead as Reno kept things close thanks to seven three-pointers in the half. The Jam led by 12 at one point before the Bighorns, led by Patrick Ewing, whittled the gap and tied the game at 89-89 with 3:50 remaining in the game on Alton Ford's foul shots. However, Bakersfield pulled away late with key free throws to seal the win.

Johnson led all scorers, while Derrick Byars and Nick Lewis both added 18 to the Jam tally in addition to Mateen Cleaves' 12 assists. Ewing (19p, 14r) and David Noel (11p, 10a) both contributed double-doubles for Reno as six players scored in the double digits for the Bighorns.

Bakersfield improved to 21-17 on the season while Reno fell to 15-21.

The Jam embark on a three game road trip before returning home next Thursday, March 19th, to host the Dakota Wizards at Rabobank Arena.
