
87ers to Celebrate Black History Month

WILMINGTON, DE - FEBRUARY 1, 2018 - The Delaware 87ers today announced details of the team's Black History Month celebration in partnership with the City of Wilmington.
At each of the team's five home games this month, the City of Wilmington will honor a community leader with the honorary game ball presentation. Among the honorees is Paulette Sullivan-Moore, the first African American woman to be sworn into the Delaware Bar (1977), who will be recognized on Feb. 13 when the team takes on the Canton Charge at 6:30 p.m. All tickets purchased for this game using promo code MLK at www.sevens.com/promo will be discounted to $12 each and $5 from each ticket sale will be donated to the Walnut St. YMCA Black Achievers.
Sevens players will wear #NBAVoices warmups all month to celebrate Black History Month. Ambassador of Basketball Joe Richmond will appear on Facebook LIVE and 610 Sports Radio game broadcasts to speak on #NBAVoices and the role basketball has played in Black History.
NBA Voices is the NBA's initiative to address social injustice, promote inclusion, uplift voices and bridge divides in our communities. It represents another step in the league's ongoing work to bring people together and use the game of basketball to demonstrate the importance of values of equality, diversity and inclusion. NBA Voices will continue these efforts in a number of ways, including leading community conversations, supporting a network of community partners and through an interactive social media platform to amplify the voices who are making a difference.
The NBA Family is supporting the national dialogue on race and equality through league-wide efforts that bring people together, amplify the voices of fans and players, and take collective action toward concrete change.
