7'9" Sun Ming Up Next for Sound

Strong Island Sound News Release

Patchogue, NY- The Strong Island Sound hope to even their record on the longest road trip of the season as it concludes on Saturday, February 3. To do that, they will have to contend with the newest member of the Maryland Nighthawks, 7'9" Sun Ming. The Sound have picked up two wins and dropped three games during the trip, which began on January 13 with a win at Newark.

The Sound (13-10) lead the season series versus Maryland 3 games to 2. But that was before the behemoth Asian was part of their squad. Although he has limited jumping ability, there isn't much athleticism needed at that height.

These two teams have seen a lot of each other thus far this season. In November, each club won at the other's building. Come December, that trend was reversed and the home squads prevailed. In their last match-up on January 5 in Rockville, Maryland, the Sound dominated and were victorious by a score of 119-109. Maryland is currently 11-10 and 1.5 games behind Strong Island in the ABA's Blue Central Division.

The Sound return home on February 10 at Suffolk Community College with a 7 p.m. tip-off versus the Richmond Ballerz. It will be "Youth Services Night." On February 11, the first Sunday matinee will be played with a 2 p.m. start versus the Quebec City Kebs.

NOTES: Sound leading scorer Greg Plummer was tied for the game high scorer with Billy Knight of the West Squad with 25 points in the ABA All-Star Game last weekend.
