Ottawa 67's News Release
Today's game seemed like a sure thing with our Ottawa 67's keeping a 1-0 lead until the last 10 minutes of play. Even though the IceDogs tied the game in the third period, our 67's still came out victorious in the end. After keeping fans on the edge of their seats during overtime and a suspenseful shootout, the winning goal was scored by our Ottawa 67's captain, Tyler Cuma.
Today was the Day of Appreciation for the men and women who serve our country in the Canadian Forces. These members could be found throughout the stands with their families and friends, showing their support for our Ottawa 67's. In tribute of the Day of Appreciation, the Commandant of Canadian Forces Support Unit, Ottawa - Captain Navy Lynn Bisson, and Chief Warrant Officer for National Defence Headquarters, Chief Warrant Officer Mario Belcourt, took part in a ceremonial puck drop.
Also as a part of the Day of Appreciation, the crowd welcomed the Air Force Pipes and Drums and the Canadian Forces Flag Party (photographed below). The two groups gave today's game a great kick-off before the puck drop!
During the first intermission, the Nepean IP6 Red Rockets took over the ice to entertain fans with a mini-hockey game (photographed below). Watch out for these guys in a few years, they look like they could be sporting our Ottawa 67's jerseys in the future. Way to go guys, you were all stars in today's game!
Be sure to come cheer on our Ottawa 67's next Friday, when they take on the Plymouth Whalers. We'll be cheering, and writing, from the stands!
Jubilee Fine Jewelers' 3-star selection
Third star: Ottawa 67's Dalton Smith, No. 33
Second star: Niagara IceDogs Reggie Traccitto, No. 12
First star: Ottawa 67's Chris Perugini, No. 30
Â
Today's game has two fans, Ashton and Liam! Both hope to be hockey players, but are still learning how to skate. For now, they're happy in the stands, with a sign they spent two half-days making, to cheer on our Ottawa 67's.
Keep cheering boys!
Andrew Hazard is our featured season ticket holder for today's game. He has been a fan and season ticket holder since his high school days in 1999 when he was classmates with some of the players. Andrew is a big sports fan that likes coming to see our 67's in action because he says it's good hockey to watch.
Thanks for the support Andrew!
In honour of our Day of Appreciation for the men and women who serve our country in the Canadian Forces, today's group is all of the Canadian Forces members who came to cheer on our Ottawa 67's with their families and friends.
Scoring the shootout goal that won today's game is our Ottawa 67's captain, Tyler Cuma. If his life were a movie, Cuma would want Will Ferrell to be the star, and his favorite artist, Kenny Chesney, would most likely be on the soundtrack!
Way to go Tyler!
