Ottawa 67's News Release

OTTAWA - The Ontario Hockey League announced, today, that Ottawa 67's defenceman Pavel Mintyukov has been voted winner of the 2023 Max Kaminsky Trophy, as OHL Defenceman of the Year.

"Throughout the 2022-2023 season, Pavel exhibited his tremendous skill, energy, and passion for the game, each and every day," said 67's General Manager James Boyd. "His positive impacts as a teammate, and leader extend beyond the ice surface. It is great to see Pavel receive this well-deserved, prestigious recognition."

Mintyukov, 19, led all defencemen in scoring during the 2022-23 OHL season, scoring 24 goals and 64 assists, for 88 points in 69 games, posting a +33 rating.

A 10th overall draft pick of the Anaheim Ducks in 2022, Mintyukov arrived in the nation's capital via trade with the Saginaw Spirit - who selected him 52nd overall in the 2020 CHL Import Draft - on January 10, 2023. All told, the Moscow, Russia native has appeared in 136 OHL games, racking up 41 goals and 109 assists, for a total of 150 points.

Now the ninth player in 67's history to take home the Max Kaminsky Trophy, Mintyukov joins Denis Potvin (1972, 1973), the late Randy Boyd (1981), Brad Shaw (1984), Chris Snell (1991), Sean Blanchard (1997), Brian Campbell (1999), Brendan Bell (2003), and Noel Hoefenmayer (2020) as Barber Poles who have won the award.

Should he be named CHL Defenceman of the Year, Mintyukov will become the fourth 67's defender to take home the honour, following Blanchard, Bell, and Hoefenmayer, respectively.
