OTTAWA - A two-goal performance by Tye Felhaber wasn't quite enough for the Ottawa 67's on Thursday night as the Barber Poles dropped a 6-3 road decision to the Peterborough Petes.
Felhaber, with his 10th and 11th goals of the season, twice tied the game up for the 67's, and Jared Steege's seventh of the season temporarily gave Ottawa the lead in the third, but a pair of late-game goals by the Petes ultimately sunk the visitors.
Felhaber first pulled the 67's even five minutes into the second after Zach Gallant had given the Petes the lead in the opening period. Felhaber once again notted things up late in the second after the Petes had gone ahead on a Steven Lorentz tally.
But despite Ottawa's lead with less than three minutes to play, it wasn't to be. Lorentz scored his second of the game less than a minute later and Logan DeNoble notched the winner 45 seconds after that to put Peterborough back in front. Lorentz completed the hat trick 22 seconds later, into an empty net, to seal the win.
Leo Lazarev stopped 39 of 43 shots in a losing cause for the 67's, while Dylan Wells picked up the win for the Petes as he turned away 34 shots.
The 67's return home December 10 for a matinee teddy bear toss game against the Oshawa Generals before closing out the weekend when Ottawa hosts the Petes on Sunday at TD Place at 2 p.m.
