67's Assistant Coach Martin Dagenais Accepts QMJHL Head Coaching Job

OTTAWA - The Ottawa 67's, and entire Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group family are bidding Assistant Coach Martin Dagenais a fond farewell, as he moves on to become the Head Coach of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.

'We are happy and excited for Martin, who has earned this opportunity to lead the Huskies," said 67's General Manager James Boyd. "The 67's wish Martin the very best."

Dagenais joined the Barber Poles staff in August of 2021, following a decorated tenure with the Ottawa Jr. Senators (CCHL) program, in which he served as Assistant Coach, Head Coach, and General Manager, guiding the team to a pair of Bogart Cup, and Fred Page Cup championships.

"We're very excited for Martin," 67's Head Coach Dave Cameron added. "He is extremely deserving of this opportunity. The Huskies made a heck of a hire."

A native of Marionville, Ontario, Dagenais helped a young 67's team to a playoff berth during the 2021-22 season, before enjoying a record-breaking 51-win, 107-point campaign in 2022-23, that saw Ottawa take home the Hamilton Spectator Trophy, as Ontario Hockey League Regular Season Champions.

On the international stage, Dagenais has served on Team Canada East's staff at the World Junior A Hockey Challenge on four occasions, as both Assistant Coach and Head Coach, taking home a pair of silver medals.

"I am extremely thankful for the time I spent with the 67's organization. I can't say enough good things about the people I worked with during my time in Ottawa," Dagenais said. "A part of me is sad to leave such a great organization, but at the same time, I'm really excited for the challenge ahead with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies."
