Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Inland Empire defeated the Lake Elsinore Storm in dramatic fashion 4-3 in 13 innings. 66ers catcher Jett Bandy hit the game winning RBI single, driving in left fielder Ryan Jones after coming in as late inning replacement.

"I saw Jones was on first and I was thinking about driving it in the gap," said Bandy. "A wild pitch or a passed ball later, Jones was on third and then I just thought about getting wood on the ball and out of the infield."

The 66ers got on the board as right fielder Randal Grichuk had an RBI single to knot the game at 1-1 in the 4th inning. Grichuk had a solid day both offensively and defensively going 3-for-6 and making a remarkable circus catch over the tarp in foul territory in right field. Jones also had a good day at the plate as he went 3-for-5 and scoring the winning run.

66ers starter Max Russell dramatically improved from his last outing as he went 6 1/3 innings, giving up only three earned runs, striking out three and walking one for the no decision. Storm starter Mark Pope matched Russell pitch for pitch as he also went 6 1/3 innings, striking out one and walking one. 66ers reliever Eric Cendejas pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win. Cendejas improves to 2-2. Storm reliever Chris Franklin was charged with the loss to fall to 3-2.

The 66ers continue their series with the Lake Elsinore Storm tomorrow at 7:05 pm. It will be Man's Best Friend Monday as fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the game. The game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 6:55.
