66ers Ride out Storm, Win 7-6

Inland Empire (33-42, 2-3) welcomed the Lake Elsinore Storm (40-35, 4-1) to San Manuel Stadium for the first time in the 2nd half of the 2012 season with a 7-6 66ers win. Inland Empire shortstop Rolando Gomez was the offensive star of the game with a 2 run home run in the first inning to give the 66ers an early cushion. The home run was Gomez's second of the year.

Inland Empire third baseman Kaleb Cowert made solid contributions to the offense, finishing the day going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. 66ers first baseman C.J. Cron added another RBI to increase his league leading total to 65. This was Cron's third consecutive game with at least one RBI. Second baseman Taylor Lindsey also added to the haul with an RBI to give him 34 on the year.

66ers starter Lay Batista contained the Storm offense enough to get the win as he went six innings, giving up four earned runs, and striking out three while walking three. His record improves to 4-6 on the year. 66ers reliever Buddy Boshers got his first save of the year, closing out the Storm.

The 66ers continue their series against the Lake Elsinore Storm tomorrow at 7:05 pm. It will be Turn Back the Clock Tuesday as fans can step back in time to the days of the San Bernardino Spirit as select ballpark prices will reflect those of the era.
