Tulsa 66ers News Release
TULSA, Okla. - Just one night after the 66ers broke the .500 mark for the first time in franchise history, the visiting Wizards hit the first shot just 39 seconds into the game and never looked back, beating the 66ers 105-81 at Expo Square Pavilion Saturday night. Dakota (3-1) got balanced scoring with seven players in double figures, while Tulsa (2-2) was paced by Mike Hall's 19 points and nine rebounds.
Dakota shot 51 percent from the floor for the first half (50 percent for the game), compared to 32 percent by Tulsa (39 percent for the game), building a 52-36 halftime lead.
"We had a hard time hitting shots," said Tulsa head coach Joey Meyer. "You've got to give Dakota credit. They definitely out-hustled us tonight."
Renaldo Major, Jerome Beasley and Justin Williams each finished with 15 points for the Wizards. Williams, the D-League's leader in rebounds, averaging 14 per game, yanked down 17 more on the night. James Maye and Brandon Armstrong added 14 points apiece while Kevin Lyde and Quemont Greer each scored 12.
For Tulsa, Cheyne Gadson with 14 points, Will Conroy with 13 and Marcus Taylor for 11, joined Hall in the double-digit scoring category.
The Tulsa 66ers will make their fifth home-game appearance on Wednesday, December 6, when they take on the Austin Toros, coached by NBA All-Star Dennis Johnson. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Expo Square Pavilion.
