66ers fall short in home opener

TULSA, Okla. - The Arkansas RimRockers defeated the Tulsa 66ers, 98-95, in their home opener of the 2006-07 NBA Development League season. Tulsa's Denham Brown and Will Conroy tied to lead all scorers with a game-high 19 points in front of an opening night crowd at Expo Square Pavilion.

Four Tulsa players scored in the double digits, led by Brown and Conroy with 19 points, guard Cheyne Gadson with 17 and Marcus Taylor for 10.

Olu Famutimi poured in 16 points for the RimRockers, and Brian Jackson, Clay Tucker and Myron Allen all ended with 14 points each.

Tulsa and Arkansas finished the game shooting 44 percent. Tulsa slightly outrebounded the RimRockers 46-43. The 66ers were just 4-of-15 from the 3-point line compared to Arkansas' 5-of-8 from beyond the arch.

The win moves the RimRockers record to 1-0 and drops the 66ers to 0-1 for the first game of the 06-07 season.

The RimRockers and Tulsa 66ers will face off again tomorrow night at the Expo Square Pavilion beginning at 7 p.m.

"It was a good, early-season game for both teams," Tulsa head coach Joey Meyer said. "Arkansas played hard and well."
