
66ers Drop Season Finale in Lancaster, 11-5

LANCASTER, Calif. - The JetHawks broke open a tie game by scoring four runs in the fourth inning and went on to defeat the 66ers, 11-5, in the final game of the season for both clubs Monday evening.
The 66ers finish the season 59-81, one game behind Rancho Cucamonga for the final playoff spot in the Southern Division. It is just the third time in 15 years that the 66ers have missed the playoffs.
After Elian Herrera tied the game at two with a leadoff homer in the top of the fourth, Lancaster (56-84) rallied off Inland Empire starter Justin Miller. With one out, five of six batters recorded hits, including doubles by Koby Clemens, Marcos Cabral and Ronnie Ramirez as the JetHawks went in front, 6-2.
The 66ers fought back in the eighth off Lancaster starter Leandro Cespedes. A hit from Jovanny Rosario preceded a double from Elian Herrea. A sacrifice fly from Steve Caseres and RBI groundout from Andres Perez cut the lead deficit to, 7-5.
Lancaster trumped the Inland Empire rally with a four run eighth inning, capped off by a two-run homer from Steve Brown.
Cespedes (9-10) yielded 5 runs on 8 hits in 7 2/3 windy innings for the win. He walked none and struck out 7.
Miller (0-7) yielded 6 runs on 7 hits in 4 innings in his first experience pitching in the hitter-friendly ballpark.
Clemens went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI to win the California League batting title. He finished with a .345 average, narrowly edging Alex Liddi of High Desert for the crown.
Matt Weston went 3-for-3 with a homer, 2 RBIs and 3 runs while Cabral went 3-for-4 with two doubles, 3 RBIs and 2 runs to pace the JetHawks
Rosario and Herrera each had two hits for the 66ers.
