Tulsa 66ers News Release
DES MOINES, Iowa, January 22, 2013 - Oklahoma City Thunder assignee Jeremy Lamb posted 30 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as the Tulsa 66ers held off the Iowa Energy, 111-106, on Tuesday night inside Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
Fellow Thunder assignee Daniel Orton scored 19 points with 13 rebounds and five blocked shots. NBA veteran Rasual Butler totaled 26 points with four rebounds and four blocks.
As a team, the 66ers recorded 14 blocked shots - a franchise record. The previous franchise-best was 13 against the Austin Toros in 2010.
The 66ers tied a season-high as they brought down 50 rebounds, including 17 on offense.
Tulsa shot 47 percent from the field, led by Lamb's 12-for-18 shooting. The rookie out of Connecticut made five 3-point baskets on six attempts.
Tulsa (11-11) got off to a strong start, outscoring Iowa (6-16) 23-13 in the opening quarter. Coming out of a 53-39 66ers lead at halftime, the Energy fought back into the game by outscoring Tulsa, 40-22, in the third period.
Iowa led the 66ers, 82-75, early in the fourth before a 12-4 run put Tulsa back in the game.
With just over two minutes remaining and the game tied 99-99, Tulsa took a one-point lead on a free throw from Dominique Sutton. The 66ers forced an Iowa shot clock violation on the next possession and capitalized with a banked-in 3-pointer by Lamb on the other end with 1:21 left.
The Energy forced the 66ers to earn the victory from the free throw stripe, where Tulsa went 6-for-8 in the game's final 32 seconds.
Tulsa is back in action this weekend as it hosts the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the Lakers' NBA D-League affiliate, on Friday and Saturday nights at the SpiritBank Event Center. For more information, visit Tulsa66ers.com.
