Calgary, AB - Cavalry FC have invited 6 local young players from their U20 development team to boost numbers as the team prepares for departure to "The Island Games" in Charlottetown, PEI for the 2020 season.

Caden Rogozinski 2002 CB (Grassroots Club: Foothills)

Ethan Keen 2002 FB (Grassroots Club: Foothills)

Marco Plenzik 2002 CM (Grassroots Club: Blizzards)

Gareth Smith-Doyle 2002 CF (Grassroots Club: Foothills)

Max Piepgrass 2004 CM (Grassroots Club: Foothills)

Each are current members of the Cavalry FC U20 development team that was set for their second season in the Alberta Major Soccer League (AMSL), which unfortunately was cancelled due to COVID-19. Under the tutelage of Jonathan "Jay" Wheeldon, Ash Gooch and Nik Ledgerwood, these youngsters have been given the opportunity to train with the pros in preparation for the upcoming tournament.

All 6 players are required to adhere to local health and safety policies and the Canadian Premier League's additional safety protocols put in place for Phase 3 of the Return to Training. This includes posting negative COVID-19 tests prior to being permitted to train.

"This is an invaluable learning experience for these 6 talented, young and local Cavalry prospects. It's a great opportunity for these aspiring young players to see the work and dedication it takes to play in the Canadian Premier League." - Martin Nash (Cavalry FC Assistant Coach & Technical Director)

"It's been awesome to train with players I've looked up to and watched and I've recognized the very high standard the club expects. I appreciate the opportunity to play as it has been a goal of mine to play at that level" - Max Piepgrass (Cavalry FC U20 development squad).
