Indiana Mad Ants News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Fort Wayne returned home on Saturday to pick up a win over visiting Cleveland, 110-99.

It was a quick strike for Cleveland, who jumped out to a 10-3 lead before Fort Wayne started pushing back on the hands of Gabe York. But the Charge weren't so quick to relinquish the lead with back-to-back baskets from Wes Iwundu and Dylan Windler that held Fort Wayne at bay. The Mad Ants closed out the quarter with a Darius Adams to Kavell Bigby-Williams dunk to trail 25-20 at the break.

The second quarter again started all Charge. Malik Newman and Justin James scored the first seven points of the quarter and pushed Cleveland to a 32-20 lead. The Charge would hold Fort Wayne scoreless for over four minutes to start the second quarter before Jordan Bell cut into what became a 14-point lead for Cleveland. Fort Wayne would score eight in a row themselves, with a point blank make from York cutting the lead back down to six for the Charge. Cleveland would hold a 50-47 lead at halftime.

Cleveland would score the first five points of the third, another quick start with Fort Wayne fighting back and taking their first lead of the game with 7:51 left in the third. That basket, on a fast break score from Walt Lemon Jr., put Fort Wayne ahead 59-58. The two teams traded the lead through much of the rest of the quarter with the Charge pulling up by five with 1:40 left on a Malik Newman basket. Cleveland led 75-74 after three despite an Andrew Rowsey deep buzzer beater.

A Pedro Bradshaw three with 10:21 left in the game helped the Mad Ants match their largest lead of the game to that point, 81-77. Fort Wayne would push out by as many as nine points on back-to-back three pointers from Darius Adams, who would then add another basket to score eight straight points on his own to give the Mad Ants a 91-82 advantage. A Rowsey three with 6:14 to go pushed the lead to 96-82 as Fort Wayne was on a 13-0 run. While the Charge were able to exchange baskets with Fort Wayne down the stretch, they couldn't significantly close the gap.

Anderson led Fort Wayne with 31 as seven Mad Ants scored in double figures; he added 12 rebounds and seven assists. Jordan Bell added 10 points and 15 rebounds while Adams added 15 points.

Cleveland was led by 22 point from Justin James and 21 out of Newman.
