GAME SIX SUNDAY AT GUND ARENA!

Hansen's Two Goals Leads Barons To A 4-1 At Hamilton

HAMILTON, ONT - The Barons forced a game six in the North Division semi-finals with a 4-1 win at Copps Coliseum in front of 2,886 fans. Garrett Stafford was seriously injured in the game during the first period over-shadowing a big win for the Barons.

The Barons scored a first period goal for the first time in this series and led 1-0 after twenty minutes of action. The goal came on a five-minute power play called late in the stanza against Hamilton forward Alexander Perezhogin for "intent to injure". Perezhogin slashed Barons defenseman Garrett Stafford high near the head sending Stafford to the hospital for treatment. After a lengthy medical delay the game resumed and Tavis Hansen deflected a Christian Ehrhoff slap shot into the goal for the Barons first 1-0 lead since game two of the series. Tim Conboy also assisted on the goal.

Doug Murray's 3rd power play goal of the playoffs gave the Barons a 2-0 lead early in the second period as the first year defenseman jammed home a rebound for his third of the post-season. Tavis Hansen then added another power play strike less than three minutes later forcing the Bulldogs to use a timeout. Hansen's second goal of the night was his fifth of the playoffs to lead all Barons players in that category. Nolan Schaefer made all 19-saves in the period to shut down the Hamilton offense and carry the Barons into the third period with a 3-0 lead.

A rough and tumble third period saw both teams combine for 88 minutes in penalties and a game total of 131. Hamilton scored a late power play strike to get within two goals with less than three minutes later. Duncan Milroy scored the Bulldog goal, his second of the series from Marcel Hossa and Phillipe Plante. The Barons shut down any ideas of a comeback with an empty net goal by Greg Labenski with 54-seconds remaining in the game.

Garrett Stafford was treated at Hamilton General Hospital for a concussion that led to a seizure. His prognosis was good and word passed along from the hospital was that Stafford was "okay". He will remain in Hamilton for further examination.

Game six in the best-of-seven series will take place Sunday afternoon at Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio beginning at 4 O'Clock. The game can be heard live by Crashing The Net at www.clevelandbarons.net.
