Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

Waldorf, MD - A series finale between the Blue Crabs and their Freedom Division rival York Revolution was a barnburner. Down to the very last pitch every fan at Regency Furniture Stadium was on the edge of their seat but York took this one by a score of 3-2.

The first sign of scoring in a fast paced pitcher's duel came in the bottom of the fourth inning. Edwin Garcia lined a solo homer over the BurchOil Mini Monster and into the picnic deck to put the Blue Crabs on top 1-0 off of the Revs' starter Duke von Schamann (W, 8-5).

Kyle Simon (L, 4-11) was terrific in his start for the Blue Crabs, as his ERA went down for the seventh time in his last eight starts. The second hit he allowed in the contest was on a solo home run from Zach Sullivan in the fifth, and York added another in the frame on a Carlos Franco RBI single.

The next scoring came in the form of a York insurance run as Melky Mesa singled into center field on to score Wellington Dotel, making the score 3-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Blue Crabs made it awfully close with a RBI single from Tony Thomas in the bottom of the eighth, but ultimately the fact that the Blue Crabs had six two out hits, but only one two out run lead to their downfall.

Jameson McGrane came in for the ninth and picked up his 20th save of the season in a Revs 4-1 victory.

The Blue Crabs will return home Tuesday September 10th for game one of a three game set with the New Britain Bees, with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch.
