New Jersey Jackals News Release

LITTLE FALLS, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals wrapped up their 2021 debut season in the Frontier League with a resounding victory over the New York Boulders.

On what was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon at Yogi Berra Stadium, the Jackals scored seven runs in the third inning and never looked back. Dalton Combs started the scoring with a three run homer to right, scoring himself, Demetrius Moorer and Santiago Chirino. Josh Rehwaldt and Alex Kachler would both tack on RBI doubles to make it 5-0. Moorer wrapped up the scoring in the frame when he tripled in his second at-bat of the inning, scoring Stanley Espinal and Kachler, making it 7-0 after three.

The sizzling offense continued in the next inning. Riley Mihalik laced an RBI single, Kachler picked up another double, this one of the two RBI variety and Combs placed a two RBI single to wrap up a five run inning and the Jackals enjoyed a 12-0 lead after four innings.

After New York scored single runs in the sixth and seventh, the Jackals decided to score a few more insurance runs. An Espinal RBI single, a Kachler RBI double and a Nicco Toni RBI single pushed the advantage to 15-2.

It was at this point in the game where both managers agreed to have some fun with the contest. Brooks Carey made a pitching change, bringing Demetrius Moorer to the mound to pitch for the second time this year and first time with the lead. In the eighth, Boulders skipper T.J. Stanton would counter with slugging corner infielder Ray Hernandez. He would serve up a grand-slam to Josh Rehwaldt, which provided the final runs of the 19-2 score.

Because Moorer pitched three innings, he qualified for the save, his first of the season. The Jackals wrap up the campaign at 39-56. They will return in May of 2022 for their second season in the Frontier League and 25th as a franchise. There are still plenty of great events scheduled for Yogi Berra Stadium, however. Today brings the Opening Ceremonies for the American Premier League of Cricket and September 25 is the Food and Craft Beer Festival. Tickets for both events can be found at jackals.com.

On a personal note, it has been a pleasure to bring Jackals baseball to you throughout the season. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting new fans, reconnecting with long-time fans and calling every inning of Jackals baseball at Yogi Berra Stadium. I hope to see all of you next season!
