2018-19 Season in Review: Billy Garrett

NEW YORK, NY - Following two years with the Westchester Knicks and vastly improving along the way, Billy Garrett capped off this season with his first NBA Call-Up to the New York Knicks for the remainder of its season.

Last season with Westchester, Garrett averaged 11.9 points on 45.4-percent shooting in 50 games (14 starts). He drained just 36 three-pointers on 29.3-percent, hauled 2.7 rebounds and distributed 2.4 helpers per game. This year, Garrett averaged 16.5 points (second-leading), 3.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game (second-leading). He drilled 56 three-pointers and 31.6-percent and was an 85.6-percent free-throw shooter.

Garrett reached double-figure scoring 40 times this season with more than half of them 20-point performances or better. The guard also scored 30 points on three separate occasions, one of which was a career-high 39-point performance against Long Island (2/9).

Not only was Garrett a scorer but a distributor as well dishing five or more assists 19 times. He wrote and matched his career-high effort twice handing out 12 assists versus Long Island (2/9) and again in the franchise's first playoff win versus Windy City (3/27).

On February 11, Garrett was named the NBA G League Player of the Week as announced by the league office. In a 2-0 week for Westchester, Garrett averaged a team-leading 30.0 points on 51.2-percent shooting, 3.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.5 steals and drained four triples.

On February 12, Garrett became the all-time leading scorer in franchise history with 1,156 points. He surpassed Thanasis Antetokounmpo's 1,132. By the end of the regular season, Garrett amassed 1,391 regular season points, 794 of which came this season alone which slotted second in the record books in single-season scoring.

As the tenth call-up in franchise history, Garrett inked a contract with the New York Knicks on April 2. In four games with New York, Garrett averaged 6.5 points, 0.8 rebounds and totaled seven assists.
