
2016 West Virginia Power Promotional Schedule Set

CHARLESTON, WV - The West Virginia Power are pleased to announce their 2016 promotional schedule. The Power, a Class-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, will offer a promotional slate that includes several familiar themes, new and popular giveaways, musical performances, appearances, 16 post game fireworks shows and a duel bobblehead giveaway in effort to pack Appalachian Power Park this season.
Individual game tickets go on sale online Friday, March 11, at wvpower.com and the Power are running a special, temperature-based promotional price all day Friday in conjunction with WCHS-TV. Tickets will only be available on the Power website throughout the weekend and can be purchased in person at the West Virginia Power box office beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 14.
The season opens on April 7 at Greensboro and West Virginia will play its home opener on Thursday, April 14, against Lexington beginning at 7:05 P.M. The first 1,000 fans will receive a fleece ear band with the new "WV" logo. The first 1,500 fans will also receive a magnet with the 2016 Power schedule. The game will be followed by the first of the 16 fireworks shows. Opening Night is presented by Suddenlink and West Virginia Radio Corporation.
BrewFest CharlieWest is back for round two on Saturday, April 16, with a 2:05 P.M. game. The first 1,000 fans will receive a West Virginia Power beer stein. The craft brew festival will begin after the game with The Company Stores performing live.
West Virginia will play two Grand Slam School Days this season: April 20 against Kannapolis and April 27 versus the Rome Braves. Both games will begin at 10:35 A.M.
The Faith and Family Festival is slated for April 30. The game begins at 2:05 P.M. with a post game activities including live music by KJ-52 and Abandon.
The month of May will include a Chuck plush toy giveaway on May 7 and Armed Forces Night on May 21 with a digital camouflage hat giveaway. Active and retired members of the military can show proper identification and get a free ticket at the Power box office on Armed Forces Night while members of their family will get a discounted rate. Redneck Night 5 is set for May 28. The first 1,000 fans will receive a sleeveless camo t-shirt and the game will be followed by live music during The Redneck Prom. On May 31, the Power battle the Lakewood BlueClaws in a joint promotional night. Both teams will don superhero-themed jerseys. The Power will wear Batman's black and gold while Lakewood will sport Superman's theme. The Power jerseys will be auctioned off during and after the game to benefit Power Baseball Charities.
In June, West Virginia will host the first of two "Pets in the Park" nights on June 8. Pets can enter the stadium for a $3 donation to the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association. On June 18, the Power will host their own "West Virginia Day" activities with a Greenbrier resort replica giveaway and post game fireworks presented by Appalachian Power.
West Virginia will celebrate Independence Day early with post game fireworks on July 2 after a 7:05 P.M. game against Columbia presented by MVB Bank. On Sunday, July 3, the Power play at 2:05 P.M. and will celebrate Chuck the Power mascot's birthday. The first 500 fans will receive a wiffle ball and bat set. July 14 is Legends of Wrestling Night featuring appearances by "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase. Back to School Night returns on July 30 with a backpack giveaway for the first 1,000 fans.
The second "Pets in the Park" night will be held on August 10 and will once again benefit the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association. West Virginia American Water presents a tote bag giveaway on August 13. On August 27, the Power will celebrate their eighth year as a Pirates affiliate with a Tyler Glasnow and Josh Bell duel bobblehead giveaway, courtesy of IHOP. The final giveaway of the season is slated for September 3 when the Charleston Building Trades Council hands out a Power grill tool set.
The ZOOperstars and BirdZerk return to Appalachian Power Park this season as well. The ZOOperstars first appearance is schedule for April 30 during the Faith and Family Festival. BirdZerk will be on hand to perform during the July 2 Independence celebration and the ZOOperstars are back on July 3 during Chuck's Birthday Party.
Mondays will once again be Family Buck Nights, with $1.00 general admission tickets, $3.00 box seats and $1.00 concession stand specials. Tailgate Tuesdays will provide happy hour specials until first pitch with an upbeat atmosphere. The Power will offer 12 ounce beers for $1.00 as well as $2.00 16 ounce cans during each Thirsty Thursday home game. Fireworks will follow every Friday home game this season and on select Saturdays: May 21, June 18, July 2 and September 3.
