2012 Season Schedule Features Blockbuster Home Slate
October 24, 2011 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Reading Express News Release
The Reading Express will kick off the 2012 season on Sunday, February 26, on the road against the Bloomington Extreme in Bloomington, Ill.
The home schedule, though, is stacked with solid and attractive opponents. Express fans will definitely want to check out the Friday, March 2, home opener at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa. The Express will take on the Green Bay Blizzard. It ¬â¢s a rematch of an IFL second round playoff game last season in which the Blizzard edged the Express.
The biggest home game in history will take place on Saturday, March 24, when the defending IFL champion Sioux Falls Storm visit Reading. The Express cap their home schedule with a Saturday, June 2, tilt against the Chicago Slaughter. Last June, the Express ousted the Slaughter 76-33 in a first-round playoff game.
On the whole, the 2012 schedule features more opponents than a season ago. In addition to the Blizzard, Storm and Slaughter, Express fans will also get to see the Bloomington Extreme and Cedar Rapids Titans, as well as a two-game set versus the arch-rival Lehigh Valley Steelhawks.

During the off-season, the IFL took the opportunity to right-size under the direction of team owners. The revamped 16-team league continues to feature a nationwide slate of teams. In 2012, the league will be structured around two conferences and not divisional alignment.
The Reading Express are members of the United Conference, along with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks, Chicago Blizzard, Bloomington Extreme, Cedar Rapids Titans, Green Bay Blizzard, Sioux Falls Storm and Omaha Beef.
¬ÅWe ¬â¢re pretty stoked about the 2012 season, ¬Â said Tim Glase, general manager of the Express. ¬ÅWe ¬â¢ll definitely open our home schedule with a bang. Having the Blizzard and Storm visit Reading is a real treat for our fans. Express Nation has a lot to look forward to in 2012. ¬Â
The Reading Express are one of the most established franchises in indoor football. In six full seasons, the team has amassed an overall record of 73-27 with five division championships, two conference titles and the 2009 AIFA National Championship. In 2011, Reading began play as a new member of the Indoor Football League and captured the league ¬â¢s Atlantic Division title. The team plays on The Reading Hospital Medical Group Field at Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa.
