2011-12 Red Claws Schedule Announced

PORTLAND, MAINE - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced the schedule for the 2011-12 season. The Red Claws will play a 50-game schedule, with 24 games at home and 24 on the road and two games at the NBA Development League Showcase. Details of the Showcase will be announced at a later date by the NBA Development League.
The Red Claws will open the 2011-12 season with 12 straight games against Eastern Conference opponents, opening on the road Friday, November 25 at Springfield as they face their nemesis the Springfield Armor. The team will then head northwest to Erie to take on the BayHawks on Friday December 1. Crustacean Nation will have their first opportunity to catch the 2011-12 Red Claws at home on Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4 as the hometown favorites host the Armor and Fort Wayne Mad Ants, respectively.
"We are looking forward to a great season," said Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings. "With an new coaching staff in place this season, the team is going to sport a new look and style. We've got a great mix of teams coming to Maine this season, from longtime rivals like Springfield and Erie to newer teams like Texas. The Expo is going to be rocking this year."
The Red Claws will play 24 home games at the Portland Expo this season, all but one of those games falling on weekend dates. Of the 23 weekend contests, 12 will fall on Sundays and will feature early start times to encourage families with young children to attend; two Sunday games will tip off at 1 PM and ten at 5 PM.
Maine fans will have the opportunity to see 12 of the Red Claws' 15 NBA D-League opponents, including the 2011 defending champion Iowa Energy. Also making their way to Maine this season will be: Springfield Armor, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Erie BayHawks, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Idaho Stampede, Reno Bighorns, Dakota Wizards, Texas Legends, Austin Toros, Bakersfield Jam, and Tulsa 66ers.
