Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI - Single-game Hooks tickets for all 72 2009 home contests - including the historic April 2 exhibition with the Houston Astros - go to public sale Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Whataburger Field ticket office.

Beginning at 11 a.m., tickets may be purchased by calling 361-561-HOOK (4665) or visiting cchooks.com

In addition to 70 Texas League contests, the first of which comes vs. Tulsa on Opening Night April 9, Corpus Christi plays two warm-up games. Parent club Houston appears for the first time ever in the SparklingCity at 6:05 on the second day of April. Sister club and Astros Triple-A affiliate Round Rock comes calling five days later at the same time.

"On-sale is always an exciting event for our fans," general manager Michael Wood said. "This year, anticipation is at a fever pitch because of the Astros game.

"We will have a limited number of reserved seats available for Astros-Hooks. Most of the available inventory will be general admission."

Reserved seat tickets for April 2 are $28, GA $10. Ticket pricing for the other 71 games is $10 and $5.

ValueBank Texas customers can take advantage of Astros-Hooks GA ticket presales Wednesday morning at the following locations:

3649 Leopard (main office)

7110 South Staples at Weber

3757 South Staples at Lipes

14457 South Padre Island Drive

925 South Commercial Street, AransasPass

Each ValueBank opens at 9 a.m. weekdays.

Does Wood anticipate a campout at Whataburger Field Friday night?

"I imagine when we leave after the Alabama-Pan American game, there may be a few people assembling for the on-sale. We've seen that in the past with Moody-Calallen playoff games. We'll be prepared with clear guidelines for those who want to get an extra-early jump."

The Crimson Tide, Broncs and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders compete in the Fourth Annual Whataburger College Classic Thursday through Sunday.
