Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Saskatchewan - The 2008 WHL Bantam Draft is scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 1st. The event will feature all 22 WHL teams drafting the top 1993-born players from across Western Canada and the United States.
The WHL Bantam Draft is an important way for General Managers to compile future players for their respective teams. The Pats have had recent success through the draft as the Pats playoff roster included three 1st round picks: Colten Teubert (2005), Brett Leffler (2004) and Logan Pyett (2003).
Meanwhile, the Pats have added plenty of other pieces courtesy of the Bantam Draft, selecting current players Garrett Mitchell (2nd round, 2006), Jordan Eberle (7th round, 2005), Linden Rowat (3rd round, 2004) and Matt Delahey (3rd round, 2004).
The Pats' list of past WHL Bantam Draft selections also includes current NHL'ers Josh Harding, Garth Murray, Barret Jackman, Brad Stuart and Kyle Calder.
Regina Pats General Manager Brent Parker, along with Head Scout Todd Ripplinger, will both be available for comment regarding the Bantam Draft on Monday April 28th, at 1:30pm outside of the Regina Pats office. All media are encouraged to attend.
