2008 Shock Dance Team Tryouts Announced

The Spokane Shock will be holding an open try-out for the 2008 Spokane Shock Dance Team on Saturday, February 23rd from 8 AM - noon at the Shock Center, 3212 N. Eden Road. All interested applicants must be 18 or older by March 31st.

Registration forms will be available at www.spokaneshock.com Applicants who pre-register will be charged $25, while those who register at the door will be charged $35.

The Shock Dance Team will be directed by Maggie Cahalan. Cahalan is currently a student at Washington State University where she is a member and Captain of the Washington State University Crimson Girl's Dance Team. She also is the current choreographer of the West Valley High School Dance Team, which has been recognized by the WIAA as the top dance team in the State for the past three years.

The preliminary round of the tryouts will begin with an orientation, after which Cahalan will teach the applicants a short hip-hop routine. The final round of the tryouts will once again be held at the Big Easy Concert House, 919 W. Sprague, on March 6th.

Last season, 70 prospective dancers attended the first open tryout on the way to selecting the final 16 members of the Dance Team. In addition to performing at all home games in front of sold-out crowds, Dancers will also be asked to make various community appearances throughout the season.

The Shock will open the 2008 season at the Spokane Tribe Field at the Spokane Arena on April 5th as they host the Green Bay Blizzard. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 509 242 7462.
