Fresno Falcons News Release

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society proudly announced the 2008 Man & Woman of the Year at their Grand Finale event last Friday night. John Tull, CEO Fresno Falcons, raised $14,574 and was named 2008 Man of the Year. Michelle Hagopian, Ron Silva Realty, raised $35,436 and was named 2008 Woman of the Year. This was the Central Valley Chapters most successful year raising $67,626. The three other candidates who contributed to the success of the program were Kristin Kelley, SoftRock 98.9 Radio Personality, Joel Sanchez, J Kat's Marine n Auto, and Jarrett Kelly, Community Volunteer.

The candidates were inspired to succeed by the Boy & Girl of the Year, two local children affected with blood cancer. These young leukemia patients provide inspiration and reminded candidates of the importance of their efforts. This year's Boy and Girl of the Year are Branson Stokes, of Clovis, and Makayla Weaver, of Sanger.

The Man & Woman of the Year competition was an eight-week campaign during which candidates vied for the titles of 2008 Man & Woman of the Year. The candidates engaged in a philanthropic competition generating funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Every dollar raised was counted as one vote.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the campaign. The funds raised will further the mission of LLS, to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The Central Valley Chapter has served thousands of families affected by blood cancer throughout the valley in the last ten years.
