2006 Eastern Conference champion Bears advance to Calder Cup finals

5/30/2006 11:27:00 PM - The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club advanced to the 2006 Calder Cup Finals tonight with a victory over the Portland Pirates in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, and will now face the Western Conference Champion Milwaukee Admirals in a best-of-seven championship series.

The BEARS advanced to the club's 19th Calder Cup Finals appearance by sweeping the Norfolk Admirals in the East Division Semi-Finals, sweeping the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the East Division Finals and by defeating the Portland Pirates in the Eastern Conference Finals four games to three. Milwaukee defeated the Iowa Stars in the West Division Semi-Finals four games to three before sweeping both the Houston Aeros in the West Division Final and the Grand Rapids Griffins in the Western Conference Finals.

The best-of-seven series is scheduled to begin Friday at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The BEARS will host Games three, four and five at GIANT Center. Tickets are now on sale at the GIANT Center box office for the first two home games (PL08 and PL09) as well as by phone at (717) 508-BEAR.

Game One: BEARS at Admirals Friday, June 2 7:00 p.m. Game Two: BEARS at Admirals Saturday, June 3 7:00 p.m. Game Three: Admirals at BEARS Saturday, June 10 7:00 p.m. Game Four: Admirals at BEARS Sunday, June 11 6:00 p.m. Game Five: Admirals at BEARS Tuesday, June 13 7:00 p.m. Game Six: BEARS at Admirals Thursday, June 15 7:00 p.m. Game Seven: BEARS at Admirals Saturday, June 17 7:00 p.m.

All BEARS home games will be played at GIANT Center, while the Admirals will host their games at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. WQIC-FM (100.1 FM) and the BEARS Radio Network will carry all the games live, with the pre-game show beginning 20 minutes prior to face-off.
