
2005-06 UHL All-Rookie Team announced

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday the 2005-06 All-Rookie Team as selected by league head coaches, general managers, and members of the media.
Per UHL Rules and Regulations, a player qualifies as a rookie if he has participated in 60 or fewer professional games prior to the start of the 2005-06 season. A goaltender qualifies as a rookie if he has participated in 3,600 or fewer game minutes prior to the start of the 2005-06 season.
2005-06 UHL ALL-ROOKIE TEAM
Goaltender - Joel Martin, Kalamazoo Wings
Defenseman - Donny Grover, Danbury Trashers
Defenseman - Matt Gens, Rockford IceHogs
Forward - Jason Deitsch, Kalamazoo Wings
Forward - Ryan Keller, Muskegon Fury
Forward - David Wrigley, Muskegon Fury
Joel Martin (G), Kalamazoo Wings - The 23-year-old native of Three Hills, Alberta completed the regular season with a 36-12-4 record. His 2.20 goals against average (GAA) and .921 save percentage (SPCT) led all UHL goaltenders. His 36 wins was the second highest total in the league. Martin was the Easton UHL Rookie of the Month for November and was selected as a starting goaltender for the 2006 UHL
All-Star Classic.
Donny Grover (D), Danbury Trashers - The 23-year-old native of Rockland, Massachusetts was second among UHL rookies with a plus-43 rating. That number ranked third among all UHL defensemen. Grover scored 41 points (10g, 31a) in 66 games played for the Trashers. He also was called-up to Lowell of the American Hockey League (AHL) for ten games this season. He was selected to the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic in January.
Matt Gens (D), Rockford IceHogs - The 23-year-old native of Baudette, Minnesota registered 23 points (5g, 18a) and 78 penalty minutes in 71 regular season games. His plus-31 rating led the Rockford IceHogs, setting a new team record, and tied for fifth among UHL rookies in that category. Gens netted three power play goals this season and also earned four separate call-ups to Milwaukee of the AHL where he played a total of five games.
Jason Deitsch (F), Kalamazoo Wings - The Cincinnati, Ohio native celebrated his 26th birthday on Friday. He led his team and ranked first among all UHL rookies in scoring with 87 points (38g, 49a). His 18 power play goals were the most among rookies and his plus-36 rating ranked third. At one point during the regular season, he accumulated a league high nine-game goal scoring streak. Deitsch was named Easton UHL Rookie of the Month for February and April.
Ryan Keller (F), Muskegon Fury - The 22-year-old native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was third among UHL rookies with 81 points (41g, 40a) in 65 games played. His plus-34 rating was fourth among rookies. Keller tied for first overall in the league this season with 11 game-winning goals, which equaled a UHL season record. He was the Easton UHL Rookie of the Month for January and was selected to the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic, scoring a goal in the game.
David Wrigley (F), Muskegon Fury - The 25-year-old native of Washago, Ontario was second among UHL rookies in scoring with 84 points (42g, 42a) and ranked first with 42 goals. He played in all 76 regular season games for the Muskegon Fury and registered a plus-29 rating. Wrigley was tied for third overall in the UHL with nine game-winning goals. He earned honors as the Easton UHL Rookie of the Month for December and was selected to the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic.
